A
few odds and sods about me. In 2008 I made it back to Wales
after 10 years of working in London. I now live in Cardiff.
So
far, much of my life has been concerned with working out how
to do things with words, to pinch a phrase from
JL Austin. In lieu of an apprenticeship, I spent my first
professional years doing all manner of jobs in the press:
from putting together showbiz bulletins and sub-editing on
the tabloids to writing for ski magazines and specialised
technical journals.
Before journalism I spent six years
studying the English language. I completed a BA in English
and an MPhil in general linguistics at Oxford University,
and then a diploma at the Centre for Journalism Studies, Cardiff.
Prior to that, I was busy growing up in Mumbles,
a short hop west along the M4.
Below is a small but expanding miscellany of things that have
snagged my interest over the years. For current obsessions,
take a peek at the weblog.
